Who is Father Ryan?
Who am I?
I am a Diocesan Priest for the Diocese of Austin. I happily serve the The Lord and His people as the associate pastor at St. Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station.
Following a long discernment I entered Holy Trinity Seminary where I attended the University of Dallas. From there I was sent to St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston to study at the University of St. Thomas. I have also spent 4 years as an active reserve Army Chaplain. In 2012 I was ordained a Priest. I couldn’t be happier.
What do I do for fun?
I am really into running, especially marathons. My problem is I keep injuring myself. You’ll hear about it in the homilies sometimes. When I’m not running or reading, you can find me brewing beer, camping, and drinking as much coffee as I possibly can. Seriously, a cup is always in my hand.
Why do I call this blog Before the Altar?
This blog gets its name from what I hope is a prayer we all pray – that our lives should all be before the altar; that is, that we should live our life as one lived boldly before His altar. I not only preach in front of the altar but it is my prayer that each and everyone of us should live our lives as people who know they have been invited to behold the lamb.
